Oh, to be a speedbump
To the people in the world purposely doing evil things…
Now that I’m clear that they exist…
Now that they have touched me personally.
To be a wall is better.
To stop them in their tracks.
But that’s a tall order,
One too hard for most.
But to at least be a speed bump,
To at least make them think:
To ponder for a split second their path.
To maybe make them understand they could hurt others
By going thoughtlessly too fast.
To maybe make them take a different path the next time
That won’t hurt the vulnerable.
And if that doesn’t work,
To at least damage the vehicle
With which they are using to violate the law.
